Masks and Wheels

I wanted to try a technique from FSM on the wheels of this aircraft. So I used aluminum foil tape to make masks for the wheels.

A square of foil tape is cut and then placed on the wheel. Then burnished
down with a toothpick. Once I was satisfied with the burnish, I used
a new blade to cut around the wheel well. I repeated the same process
on the other side of the wheel.

From what I have read tires in World War 1 were rarely black and tended toward dark grays or even light gray.
I chose to use Tamiya Nato Black for these tires.
