Cursed Caban Struts and other Fiddly Things

Made some good progress late last night and today, but not without facing some challenges.

Following some online advice, I connected the caban struts to the
top wing. When I tried to dry fit them to the fuselage, I realized this
approach wouldn't work for this model.

So I tried again this time connecting them to the fuselage. Even after I added
some contact points by drilling holes to receive the ends of the struts the joins were
very flimsy. I have seen this before in WW1 aircraft models. I wish manufacturers would
find a way to represent the realistic flimsiness of the struts with a positive joint for modelers.

Decided to add some more light and dark mottling.

More PE goes on the model. This time it is the small rack used for
carrying flares and such on the starboard side of the cockpit.

Next I added the windshield and site to the cockpit area. I also put
Tamiya Smoke on the engine and on the windshield to simulate the oil and gas
leaking out of the engine.

The PE site is very nicely done, but I had to drill my own hole in the fuselage.

The prop has had its treatment of a dark colour now and is ready got the
oil colour treatment which will render a realistic wood grain effect.
