Research Information on Dad's Harvard

As always, I do some research before building a model and found that the Harvard my Dad flew has had an interesting life.

Harvard 20229, was built by Canadian Car and Foundry and completed in 1952. It was taken on strength with the RCAF on January 22, 1952.

It continued to serve as a trainer until it was struck off strength on June 3, 1966. Code Letters CF-UVN.

It was then sold to 20th Century Fox Film Corporation in 1967 and the registration code was changed to N1264. 20th Century Fox acquire 20229 along with several other Harvards to "star" in the 1968 Film "Tora!Tora!Tora!"

Of course, in order to "star" in the movie, 20229 had to undergo some modifications. 20229 was selected for conversation into a Japanese Kate torpedo bomber.

The final results of the modifications looking like this.

After the filming of the movie, 20229 was sold at auction in February of 1971 to Caroline G. Harms. In June of 1989, 20229 was sold to Tango Squadron which is an aircraft museum in Thailand. 20229 remains configured as it appeared in the movie Tora! Tora! Tora!
