Playing with Wacom Tablet.

Just picked up a Wacom drawing tablet to do sketches of plans. Decided to play with an image of my Arado 234 and came up with this result.

More Added to the Stash

Of course I couldn't go to the show without picking up some models.
A couple of really nice Blue Max 1:48 kits. This a great little kits that include white metal parts.

1:48 Bf109G-3/4 Romanian Air Force. Love the colour scheme on this one.

A British Chariot (two man sub NOT the thing with horses!) in 1:35. I couldn't resist.

The find of the show. A 1:48 Luft '46 Gotha P.60C in resin. Beautiful detail.

Ajax Ontario Show 2015

Last weekend I attended the model show in Ajax, Ontario. Lots vendors and second hand kits about. The competition tables had some interesting builds. I didn't enter anything. Still working on that Harvard.

Engine in Place

The Engine in place. Wires and harnesses still need to be put in place. I am going to do some shading, grime, and highlights before I put those parts on.

Finally Back to Work on the Harvard

I am back to working on the Harvard after a long hiatus. Don't know why I got stalled. Just a lot of things on the go and many model magazines and websites to distract me.

The upper and lower surfaces of the wings actually fit together nicely.

The engine mount doesn't fit so well, but I am not sure how visible it will be. I glued it in place so I could dry fit the other pieces of the engine.

Harvard - Instrument Panels, Cockpit, Fuselage

More work done on the 1/48 Modelcraft Harvard. There are some issues with the kit which I will describe as I go through the build.
Dry fitting the cockpit.
Cockpit components glued in place. I deviated from the plans here, as dry fitting using the plan method revealed the cockpit frame would not align with the edges of the fuselage.
When I put the fuselage together, I noticed that you would be able to see into the void forward of the cockpit. I made a bulkhead out of a piece of a plastic bookmark.
 Then painted the bulkhead.
Getting the fuselage and cockpit to align was a pain.
Still not perfect. Looking at the plans and the cockpit, it looks like I will be making a floor for the cockpit area.
I tried dry brushing the instrument panel, but the detail was so light dry brushing didn't bring it out. Luckily, the plans included an image of the instrument panel. I found a copy of the plans online. I photoshopped the image, made a negative image, and scales the image to fit on the kit panel. Not super detailing, but the instrument panel looks better.
The image enhanced instrument panel.

Instrument panels mounted in the cockpit.
Instrument cowlings in place.

Continuing work on Harvard

After what seems like a long break, I did some work on the Harvard tonight. Nothing like a model show to get you motivated.

Back from Heritage Con 9 2015

Back from Heritage Con 9 - 2015. A great show with lots of talented modellers. There are some dioramas and "targets" in the pictures because I like those subjects as well. I didn't win any awards, but there seemed to be interest in my Kikka.
